The Pandemic has moved your church online and you’re not ready for it! You need practical training to get your social media account up and running. This Resilient Church Academy will give you the tools you need to help your church feel connected, provide opportunities for discipleship and open doors to serve people in your community that might never come to a traditional church service.
Session 1: Social Media 101: Why every leader and church should be actively engaged in social media In this session we will discuss why it’s now more important than ever for churches and church leaders to get into the social media game. We’ll help you get setup on at least one of three platforms – Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.
Session 2: Developing a Social Media Strategy for your Church: Finding the right rhythms and platforms for leaders and churches In this session you will learn how to grow your church’s social media influence to more effectively reach people for Christ. How are you stewarding this resource and your influence?
Session 3: Communicating Beyond the Basics: Brand, Bulletins, Ads, Groups, Live Stream - What does it all mean and how do I make the most of it? In this session, we will help you align your church’s communication opportunities to provide better clarity for the larger community.
Session 4: Workshopping and Fine-tuning Emerging Plans and Strategies
Brad Aycock is the Director of New Church Development for the West Ohio Conference. He is a Missouri native, growing up in the SE corner known as the Bootheel. Upon graduating with a Biology degree, Brad was involved in starting businesses in Missouri, including a marketing business.
In 2008, Brad and his wife Ann sold BA Promotions to enter seminary and vocational ministry. Since being in ministry, Brad has served at the largest Methodist church in Missouri, La Croix UMC in Cape Girardeau, a newer UMC congregation reaching over 2000 each weekend.
He then served at First UMC in Sikeston, a 150 year old congregation. While there, First UMC was named one of Lifeway’s Fastest Growing Churches in the US.
In late 2015, Brad and family moved to Ohio to accept a position as Director of New Church Development for the West Ohio Conference of the UMC. Since there, West Ohio has developed a leader development process to help support the spiritual entrepreneurs and pioneers launch innovative new ministries across much of the state. Through the Greenhouse initiative, West Ohio leaders are reaching their communities in a variety of fresh, new ways.
Brad’s social media seminar gave me and our church the courage to begin stepping into areas of social media we had been reluctant to try. I appreciated Brad’s contextual approach to this training - he steers his teaching to the specific contexts of the churches, rather than offering a simplistic, cookie-cutter approach.
- Rev. Dr. Don Wallick, Pastor of Crossroads UMC, Columbus OH
