Online
One of the most successful events of Winter Pride last year, Pride at Work returns as a two day event as part of Winter Pride 2020/21. This year we will have a particular focus on adapting to new working conditions caused by Covid19 and the specific challenges LGBTI+ people face. The second day of the event will be tailored to those who have lost or are at risk of losing employment due to the covid crisis and those entering the workforce.
This will be more than a training conference as we launch our new website, www.prideatwork.ie, a permanent resource for LGBTQ+ employers, employees and jobseekers and the 2021 Pride Guide to Employment, Training and Recruitment.
Dates: January 27th and 28th 2021
Location: Online
Participants can take part online, either live or anytime after (all modules will be available to watch after the event through www.prideatwork.ie)
Module 1 - LGBT Staff Networks put to the test
Coming out of a world where employers invested heavily in staff networks and social activities that kept people in the office and tied work and social life together, this module will ask if LGBT+ staff networks are still keeping people connected and explore ways they can continue to support for their members, both current and past.
Chaired by: Éirénne Carroll - CEO TENI
Sponsored by: Bank of Ireland
Module 2 - Working from home
As LGBT+ people are more likely to live alone or with housemates rather than establish their own family units, how do we deal with the isolation caused by working from home and have a work life balance?
Module 3 - Why be out when everyone is in?
Does diversity and inclusion still matter when so many people work alone? As many LGBT+ people come out in stages, close friends, then work colleagues, then family, will people find it harder to come out and what can be done to help?
Gillian Fagan (Psychotherapist), Dermot McCarthy (Therapist) and Philippa Ryder (Diversity Champion) from Under The Rainbow will explore these questions and offer practical advice for employers and staff.
Module 4 - The role of philanthropy in supporting LGBT+ communities
This panel will reflect on the role corporate philanthropy has played in supporting LGBT+ communities over the past number of years, including at landmark moments like Marriage Equality. We will also hear insights on the emerging needs and response of LGBT+ communities in Ireland in the context of Covid 19 and how The Community Foundation of Ireland and others can make a difference. Through its own fund and the generosity of donors, The Community Foundation for Ireland has provided almost €1million to LGBT+ groups since 2000.
Presented by: The Community Foundation for Ireland. Chaired: Dr Grainne Healy. Panel: Denise Charlton - CEO, Community Foundation for Ireland; Paula Fagan - CEO, LGBT Ireland; Lisa Connell - Managing Editor, GCN.
Sponsored by: Irish Life
