Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based course predicated on the idea that our mental health is as vital to wellbeing and productivity as our physical health. This increasingly successful movement, set up 10 years ago, has now been delivered to two million people in 25 countries worldwide. In the UK, it is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.
The MHFA Online program delivers to individuals in your workforce the tools they need to recognise the symptoms of mental ill health, provide initial help, guide a person towards appropriate professional help, and be mindful of their own wellbeing.
As an MHFA Instructor, Jake has delivered the course to groups including the police, health and social care workers. Clients include the BBC, MOD Veterans’ Welfare Officers, SERCO Pr*son Officers, American University Arcadia, manufacturing companies, city groups and given lectures and talks to the Institute of Quarrying, Aimia and the Cicero group on Mental Health in the workplace.
In 2019, as an associate, he delivered the 1 and 2 Day Courses across the country to over 200 leaders, managers and staff of a major UK manufacturer. For the last 5 years he has volunteered with the charity, The Forward Trust (previously RAPt), in supporting prisoners with substance abuse issues on release.
Chris is an experienced Adult and Youth, and Higher Education MHFA Instructor and has delivered the two day, one day and half day courses to organisations, industry, schools, colleges and youth workers across the country. With a degree in psychology Chris has a passion to understand and help others. As well as being an Associate trainer with MHFA England he is also an Associate trainer with Student Minds, delivering the Higher Education Course across the country. He is a very enthusiastic trainer with excellent feedback.
As a crisis volunteer with SHOUT, the new national crisis text service, Chris supports those in crisis. He deals with a wide range of mental health issues and provides support to people at a time when they most need it.
