Career pathways in and out of academia”3:30 – 5.30 pm AEST, Tuesday July 20th, 2021The Australian OHBM Chapter is pleased to announce our upcoming webinar themed ‘What comes after the PhD? Career pathways in and out of academia’. We will be hosting our OHBM Australian Chapter AGM prior to the webinar. Australian members are invited to join the AGM prior to the webinar.Annual General MeetingImmediately prior to the webinar, at 3.30pm, July 20th, we will hold our Chapter’s AGM. The AGM provides a valuable platform for you to lean about the activities of the Chapter, how it runs, and for you to provide feedback to the Executive Council.The AGM also involves a handover from the existing Executive Council to the Incoming Council, which will be Chaired by Prof Marta Garrido, in addition to the election of new Council members for 2022.Due to COVID, this year’s voting for new Council members will be completed online. This year, we received sole nominations for the positions of Chair and Treasurer and multiple nominations for the positions of Secretary and ECR and student members. These positions will therefore require a vote. Attached you will find the names and brief bios of the nominating candidates. Please consider your choices for each position and submit your votes  here using your eventbrite ticket number as your unique voting ID.The results of the election will be announced at the AGM. WebinarA research career does not need to be defined by a single model, and this webinar aims to present a discussion with people who have lived experience that careers with research skill sets can be diverse. This webinar will be showcasing a panel of speakers with diverse career pathways ranging from an academic track pathway, those who have taken on various industry transitions and those who have managed to make multiple transitions between the two. This will be a discussion that we hope will help support anyone considering their future after a PhD/Postdoc stint.This event is entirely FREE but places are limited and priority will be given to members of the OHBM Australian Chapter.
