This interactive course will be held in a virtual classroom. Before signing up, please ensure you have already attended Module 1. This course is open to employees of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Foundation Year Doctors working in a Northwest London rotation.
You will need access to a computer with a webcam, microphone and reliable internet (not a mobile device). You will also need a pen and some paper, and a quiet room with some privacy. The Zoom link will be emailed to you before the course date, together with a small amount of reading material and pre-course work (about 30 min-1 hour's worth).
In Module 1, we covered:
- What is human factors in the healthcare setting?
- The SHEEP model for Human Factors
- The Dirty Dozen
in order to become more aware of all the factors that can potentially contribute to error.
In Module 2, we will go through some tools and techniques to help you design systems that are resilient to human error, so that you and your team can perform as safer, happier and more empowered practitioners. We will cover:
- Unconscious Bias
- Situational awareness
- Communication tools
- Blame and Accountability - what is the difference
- What is the meaning of Safety Culture?
