The pyramid is the most iconic monument of ANCIENT EGYPT. The GREAT PYRAMIDS OF GIZA great human-made mountains of stone are some of the oldest and MOST IMPRESSIVE STRUCTURES STILL STANDING MADE 4600 YEARS AGO with only stone and copper tools. They are not the only pyramids in Egypt – FAR FROM IT as FOUR were built BEFORE and DOZENS AFTER. We will EXPLORE THE RISE AND FALL OF PYRAMIDS (literally and figuratively) OVER 1500 YEARS exploring how ideas about ARCHITECTURE ROYAL POWER DIVINITY and the practicalities of TOMB ROBBERS and ECONOMICS shaped how kings (and eventually nobles) were buried in Egypt at its heights.
