In this online talk, local historian Gill Blanchard looks at the experiences, struggles and campaigns of a pioneering Norwich woman.

Margaret Pillow (1857-1928): Pioneering Educationalist and Author

Discover the story of the UK’s first female sanitary inspector, who combined being a renowned author of domestic science books, pioneering educationalist, suffragette, business owner and working mother. She was born in Norwich in 1857 and returned after her marriage and became involved in local education provision and politics.

Gill Blanchard is a full time historical researcher and author with an academic background in History, Sociology and Politics - find her website here .

This event is inspired by the British Library's "Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women's Rights" exhibition.
