FILM STUDIES--FOCUS--RACE, RACISM, AND IDENTITY

• GAIN a basic knowledge of Film Elements such as Shots, Scenes, and Sequences, Lighting, Sound, Music.

• LEARN to Develop Characters into Living Beings as filmmakers and as artists.

• PRACTICE improvisation for your Scenes and Auditions and learn to control your emotions.

• UNDERSTAND how your Cultural and Life Experiences mold the artist and the filmmaker in you.

• USE YOUR own IDEAS to develop a script and turn it into a cinematic experience.

The focus for this workshop is Race, Racism and Identity

• Students will discuss films, scripts, and characters that involve race in relationships, racism in school, at work and in the law. and racial identity of the individual.

• Students will write, act or direct scenes that reflect the themes list above. Students will be encouraged to get out of the box.
• Students will use internal and external emotions to develop characters into living beings.
• Students will learn how to turn a script into a story structure that can be turned into a cinematic work of art.
• Students who have had no film classes or some film courses can still benefit from our lectures on Film Elements. Students who have some creative experience can still benefit from our workshop too.
• We will examine how race, racism, and identity is interpreted in films. Filmmakers will create stories that may not reflect their own experiences. This workshop will give you the opportunity to develop dialogue, camera angles, lighting, characterization and sets to interpret these themes into cinematic magic while maintaining strong cultural representations of any group.

We will teach you strategies to help you move forward and upward. Learn how to get more from your acting classes and auditions. Gain an understanding of the film industry and artistic careers. Our Two-Day Workshops are designed to create a hands on experience with film, film concepts, and storytelling. As filmmakers, we tell stories with camera angles, lightning, sound, music, words and emotions. We bring the story to the audience with settings, shots, and words. We bring together all the senses at one time, in one cinematic moment.

LOCATIONS

Our workshops are held on zoom. This allows us to reach more students and it allows our students to participate in class without leaving home. Also, we have in person classes in Las Vegas, Nevada. The locations for these workshops will be announced at a later date. If your schedule cannot not commit to a two-day workshops, we do have one to one sessions.

53 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE --TBA

All our students will participate in the 53 Hour Challenge as a part of their final project. Depending on your level of participation, all students are required to register for the film challenge. Fees are based on whether you have your own equipment and script or not.

Due to the high costs of most film schools, our workshops are designed to give opportunities to the many gifted individuals who are cut off from their creative path due to overpriced film programs.

Our costs are based on providing you with the best film experience possible.
