Topic: An exploration of sex differences and the cost of camouflaging autistic behaviours.
We are delighted that Victoria Milner will be joining us to share some of the findings from her PhD research. Victoria is in the second year of her studies at King's College London, and is supervised by Professor Francesca Happé and Dr Will Mandy.
There is increasing evidence that some autistic individuals adopt strategies to mask or compensate for their autistic behaviours. Some reports suggest autistic girls camouflage more often than autistic boys, however evidence is mixed. Additionally, less is known about the consequences of these camouflaging strategies. This talk will explain masking and camouflaging in autistic people, and share some of the findings from Victoria's research.
Suitable for Parents/ Carers, School Staff and other professionals working with autistic and other neurodivergent children and young people.
