About this Event

Instructor: Amber Duncan

Nevada Registry Approved: 1.5 Hour

CKA:  Positive Interactions & Guidance

This session will provide an overview on Nevada's state policy on early childhood expulsion and suspension. We will review how the Pyramid Model and QRIS programs align to support providers in finding strategies to decrease challenging behaviors in their classrooms.

Training Objectives:

1. Participants will recognize the relationship between Pyramid Model and QRIS programs.

2. Participants will identify suspension and expulsion practices

3. Participants will identify form and function of behavior and gain understanding that behavior is a form of communication.

Each professional development session offered by The Children’s Cabinet utilizes a knowledge check to ensure that our participants understand our training objectives and our instructors are providing a comprehensive learning experience. You can expect to receive a three question quiz or test at the end of each training. If you have questions or concerns, or need additional information about this process, feel free to contact the Professional Development Training Coordinator at 775-856-6200.

About The Host: Our online training classes are available to help early childhood professionals complete their required annual training hours and enhance their knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care for Nevada’s children. This platform is used for statewide web-based training courses and require registration on both Eventbrite and GoToTraining. Supporting Early Education and Development (SEED) works collaboratively with other agencies to provide opportunities for education and training in the field of early childhood through workshops and self-guided training materials. The Children’s Cabinet must follow Nevada Registry training guidelines in issuing credit for our webinar trainings. The Nevada Registry states,  “To receive credit for attending a training, it is imperative that attendees be present at the training for the entire scheduled timeframe. If the accumulated time out of class (including includes late arrivals, extended breaks and early departures) extends beyond 15 minutes total, then no class credit should be granted. (Approval codes are specific to the number of hours approved and cannot be adjusted for partial attendance).” Additionally, so we can account for each participant, all attendees must register and attend under their own name.  For questions about online classes or registration, please email Liz Roldan at eroldan@childrenscabinet.org (Northern Nevada) or Tiffany Durazo at tdurazo@childrenscabinet.org (Southern Nevada)
