Introducing….. Planet Earth’s first 24-hour Online Global Peat-Fest!
Wade with us into a pixelated peat world.
Come explore the multi-dimensional, multi-layered depths of one of Earth’s most unsung ecosystems: the humble yet profound peatland.
Tune in on the 31st of May to ponder peat-inspired poems, listen to wetland soundscapes and stories, learn about the science of peatlands and their vital role in the ecological and climate crisis, and connect with cultures from continents everywhere.
What is a peatland? Head to our website (www.re-peat.earth) to find out!
In this particular moment in history, when time itself seems to be changing... let us take the day. As the sun comes over the horizon, let us bathe in the watery realms of semi-decomposed ancient mosses, and as it departs, let us imagine how we will emerge: drenched in earth but grounded.
Caring about peatlands is not about fixing some far off future. It is about caring for now. Acknowledging the power of peatland ecosystems is to care for them, as well as us, as well as we.
Come stumble in!
How the online festival will work:
During the festival, each session will go live at the scheduled time and, once concluded, it will be taken down. Then, on the 2nd of June (World Peatland Day), all sessions from the festival will go online on our website. So for those in Belgium who want to catch the session in New Zealand, you can either stay up all night or follow along (binge-watch) on the 2nd.
We'll be sharing details about the different sessions in the lead up to the 31st. We will also share the preliminary program shortly. At that point, select the session(s) that take your fancy and mark them in your agenda.
The festival itself is free. Optional donations will be used to help us pay for the legal process of becoming a Stitchting (foundation) in the Netherlands.
*If you would like to host a session please get in contact with us at aW5mbyB8IHJlLXBlYXQgISBlYXJ0aA==. We are particularly looking for contributors from outside Europe as well persons that identify as youth, BPOC, queer, indigenous and/or disabled. If you do not speak English and would like to hold a session, we can try and find a translation solution.
Please share this event with everyone you know.
---- The more peat people the merrier the fest. The festier the people the more merry the peat -----
