12 Minutes Max is digital!
12 Minutes Max is a curated monthly experimental performance series, presented by the Salt Lake City Public Library, featuring new original works by local artists in many disciplines: dance, music, film, theater, writing, performance art and the like. Each event includes varied performances, with a short Q&A after each piece. It is modeled after the program originated by On the Boards in Seattle.
The City Library will present a live stream 12 Minutes Max on Sunday, June 20, at 2pm. Please join us using https://vimeo.com/559404311v
. The program is archived on Vimeo and can be viewed after the broadcast as well.
Ben Swisher will present a short home video entitled Swimmers, which is “a blurry musical diary of being trusted to keep things alive and getting better at holding your breath. It was created as proof to his downstairs neighbors that he watered their garden like they asked. Ben is somehow, against all odds, a musician from Seattle. He plays lots of instruments, has spent much of his life working for libraries, lived on an actual boat for a year in second grade, and uses music to investigate the believe-it-or-not supernatural experience of making things with and for others.”
We will divert from our customary 3-performance format to include this slightly longer collaborative work:
Molly Heller will bring us Full View, a multi-media work directed by Molly in collaboration with the Heartland Collective and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company. This work was created as a series of overlapping solos made for the home, yet revealed on stage, and captured by the camera. Full View merges natural and artificial environments, the singular and complex, and illusion with reality. It is finding itself and already found. It is both private and public. It is in full view. Full View was commissioned by the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company © 2021. Thanks to R-W DC for permission to show this work.
