Railroad Days

Railroad Days

All aboard for a fun-filled weekend! On Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Lauritzen Gardens, The Durham Museum, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, the RailsWest Railroad Museum, and the Historic General Dodge House are coming together to celebrate our region’s rich railroad heritage at Railroad Days 2018.

Each participating venue will offer a variety of family-friendly activities in addition to the venues’ ongoing programs and exhibits. A $15 family pass (good for two adults and their dependent children under 18 years of age) allows admission to and transportation between all five locations. A $5 pass is also available for one additional adult with the purchase of a family pass. Passes are available for purchase at any location the day of the event.

Transportation between venues is provided thanks to a grant from the Iowa West Foundation. School buses and/or trolleys run set, one-way loops between locations.
- School buses run on the RIVER LOOP (Lauritzen Gardens to The Durham Museum to Union Pacific Railroad Museum to Lauritzen Gardens to The Durham Museum…). There are several wheelchair accessible buses that run this route.
- Trolleys run on the COUNCIL BLUFFS LOOP (Union Pacific Railroad Museum to RailsWest Railroad Museum to the Historic General Dodge House to Union Pacific Railroad Museum to RailsWest…).
- The transfer station is Union Pacific Railroad Museum. You can get off of the River Loop (bus) there and transfer to the Council Bluffs Loop (trolley), or vice versa.
