The Restorative Power of Music, Mind and Motion
Immerse yourself in a healing music experience combining live performance with methods proven to support nervous system regulation, healing and relaxation. Drawing on current research in NeuroArts and our collaboration with neurologists at the University of Kansas Medical Center, the session guides participants through a journey of sound, entertainment, and breath that supports calm, clarity, and connection. Live looping, oboe, English horn, and cello create an evolving soundscape that encourages participants to reset, recharge, and experience the grounding effects of intentional listening. Stick around for a brief Q & A exploring the creative process, healing applications, and current research in the field.
Special Guests: Bel Canto Duo
Bel Canto Duo is the collaborative partnership of oboist and English hornist Darci Gamerl and cellist and live looping artist David Downing. Together they create original works that blend classical craftsmanship, improvisation, live looping, and immersive film. Their work focuses on music as a tool for healing and connection, integrating emerging NeuroArts research through collaborations with neurologists at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
“Augmented Aquarium” an interactive installation by Danielle Tyler
The Augmented Aquarium is an interactive holographic reef simulation integrated into an ocean-themed diorama. This installation allows users to engage with the environment by learning about and selecting various fish and coral species to enhance the reef. Additionally, participants can identify animals added by other guests, which visually demonstrates the impact we all have as a community.
The Augmented Aquarium aims to offer an engaging and educational experience about our coral reef ecosystems and to show that we all play a role in the protection of our planet. The project also functions as a concept for a new mode of displaying aquatic life through the use of emerging media.
“Volleyball360” by Megan Kolbe & Charlie Major
Volleyball360 offers an interactive 360 VR experience designed specifically for athletics recruiting and promotion. Our mission is to provide a unique platform that has never been seen before in the world of sports.
This immersive experience is tailored for recruits who are in the early stages of their decision-making process. It allows them to explore the campus, discover the vibrant city, and understand the unwavering support they will receive as part of the Nebraska Volleyball Family!
