In a close-knit rural community like Omagh, people are afraid to be seen associated with substance use/mental health. That fear of judgement from others and from within us is keeping people silent when they most need support. And that silence can cost lives.So rather than push ahead, we are doing something bigger. Something that belongs to everyone.‘Speak Up, Speak Out’ Challenging Stigma Together is a community wide conversation led by RSUN, the Regional Service User Network, and we want everyone at the table. Statutory organisations, voluntary and community groups, people with lived and living experience of substance use/mental health and anyone who believes that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion.This is your invitation to be part of dismantling something that causes real harm in our community. Stigma lives in systems, in language and in silence. It loses its power when we speak about it honestly and together.Come along. Bring a colleague, a friend or simply yourself. No experience needed.
