Join us for the opening of Moving Through and Around, a unique exhibition exploring how dance connects people and place across the rural border regions of Cavan, Fermanagh-Omagh, and Monaghan.
Created by Helena Hamilton, Aoife McGrath, Sorca McGrath, and Simon Mills, in collaboration with dancers Ruth Clarke, Marion Crowe, Jamie Fagan, Jessie Keenan, Tina McGurren, Rebeca Sanchez, Aysha Treanor, and Dylan Quinn, the exhibition invites you to experience diverse dance practices through sculpture, sound, video, drawings, photography, and movement capture.
“…arms up, and swing”
“…and sink and step”
“…walk, walk, walk, turn”
“…back two three, touch”
Inspired by the fluid movement of water through borderland geology, Moving Through and Around is a choreographic and sensory journey through Sean-Nós, hip-hop, Flamenco, Scottish Country, line dancing, contemporary and more. The exhibition opens up an alternative map of dance – intimate, affective, and deeply rooted in local experience.
This event is part of Dance Connects in Rural Border Regions, a Creative Ireland Shared Island initiative (2024–2025), supporting cross-border collaboration between artists, communities, and researchers.
Come and let your own moves become part of this living, breathing landscape of dance.
