- **Event Description**: This class will be held at Evergreen Sportsmen’s Club in Olympia, Washington, and is designed to build real confidence, skill, and safety with your firearm.

We start by covering the four fundamental rules of firearm safety and building a proper mastery grip. From there, you’ll learn how to establish your body’s natural point of aim, which makes acquiring your sights and target faster and more effortless.

I’ll show you how to build a strong athletic shooting stance that helps absorb recoil and allows for faster, more precise follow-up shots. You’ll also learn how to understand your firearm’s trigger—feeling the slack, take-up, wall, and reset—so you can shoot smoother, faster, and more accurately.

During the course, you’ll practice drawing and firing from full concealment using both your strong and support hand. We’ll cover standing, kneeling, and seated shooting positions, along with tactical, workspace, and emergency reloads.

You’ll also learn how to shoot accurately in rapid succession, placing every round exactly where you intend, as quickly as possible. We’ll cover shooting from retention, an essential self-defense skill for engaging a threat at close distance, as well as good-shoot / bad-shoot scenarios and a brief overview of Washington State firearm laws.

Each class is four hours long—one hour of classroom instruction and three hours of dry and live fire training on the range. After the course, I’ll also show you how to properly disassemble, clean, and reassemble your firearm.

Firearm rentals are available for $20 if you don’t currently own one. Ammunition is available as well—9mm is $24.99 per box of 50 rounds, and .22LR is $10 per box with a rental. You’ll need 150 rounds to complete the course.

The course fee is $350 plus applicable Washington State taxes. Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate confirming your training and competency as a safe and responsible carrier. This certificate meets and exceeds Washington State’s mandatory firearm training requirements for purchasing firearms.

Lawfully wedded spouses may attend at no additional cost. We believe training together makes both partners safer and more capable.
