Olympia Food Co-op Downtown Classroom
610 Columbia Street Southwest, olympia, United States
You will learn safe ways to carry things using bags, cargo and e-bikes, trailers, and transit. Choosing quiet streets, recycled or shared gear, and even sharing the load with friends or neighbors can help you reduce your car use while bringing home your groceries.
Ami Puri is a bike educator with Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program and loves helping all ages of folks learn to get around by bike.
Duncan Green has been a coop member for decades, mostly does his shopping runs by bike, and led the Bicycle Community Challenge for 16 years!
Gail Wootan (she/her) has been a bike commuter for almost 30 years in several cities, with 15 of those years in Olympia. She rides all year round (unless it's icy) and primarily uses an electric bike for commuting to make it up the West Side hill. She loves multi-day trips on her trusty non-electric steed "Ol' Pink," thinks everyone can learn how to change a flat (bike flat that is), and thinks dresses are perfect biking attire. She has also been known to overload her bike after a shopping trip - good thing coat pockets are the perfect size for canned food!
Also check out other Contests in Olympia.
Tickets for Bicycle Series #2: How to carry your groceries and more by bike! can be booked here.
