Lawendowe Muzeum Żywe / Lavender Life Museum

( for English version scroll down)

15 czerwca 2014 roku zostanie otwarte Lawendowe Muzeum Żywe im. Jacka Olędzkiego, etnograficzny przystanek edukacyjny i warsztatowy, w którym można zasmakować powrotu do wiejskich czasów minionych.
Mamy czas do 21 stycznia, aby uzyskać 100% potrzebnych środków. W innym razie wpłaty wrócą do wspierających.

Postanowiliśmy stworzyć muzeum, bo pragniemy eksperymentalnego powrotu do dawnej wspólnotowości. Proponujemy Wam przeżycie wspólnoty w wersji light, przy pachnącej lawendzie, rozmowach, przy pracy i podczas odpoczynku. Każdy spędzi tu tyle czasu w ciągu dnia, ile mu potrzeba, by poczuć atmosferę dawnych lat, którą postaramy się przywołać.
Ludzie żyją ostatnio w sporym pośpiechu, codziennie mają dużo spraw do załatwienia, codziennie robią rzeczy, które robili wczoraj i będą robić jutro.
Nie wiemy, jaka na to jest rada, ale chcielibyśmy podarować Wam chwilę świadomej, ciepłej obecności i nieco inne otoczenie, niż to, które na co dzień jest Waszym udziałem.

The Lavender Life Museum dedicated to Jacek Olędzki will open on the 15th of June 2014. The museum will be a vital addition to Lawendowe Pole (the Lavender Field), our long-established lavender cultivation and manufacturing mill, and an important development of our vision. It is intended to serve as an ethnographic centre, where educational programs and workshops will give visitors an authentic old-time rural experience. We want each guest to find the comfort and space to participate in our workshops and activities. The museum will be a retreat for anyone who wants to learn about our vanishing rural culture, sustainable living, the gifts of nature, and about health and wellbeing.

We made crowdfounding project here:

What will we offer in our Museum?

Workshops on making all kinds of natural products to benefit body and soul, using our home-grown lavender and other naturally sourced ingredients. We will offer workshops on herbalism (for instance herbal alcohol maceration; lavender wine-making; preparing olive extracts; making beauty products based on macerates and oil, alcohol or water extracts; soap-making based on long-forgotten old recipes using caustic potash solution, birch-tar and other substances). All recipes we offer have been prepared and tested by Lavender Field.
With this knowledge you'll never need to use mass-produced products any more.
A permanent educational exhibition explaining the art of lavender cultivation.
Workshops on old handicraft techniques.
Creative artistic and handicraft activities based on the idea of live ethnography, where we are both the exhibit and the artist, dissolving the boundaries between object and spectator.
Cookery classes, which will teach you how to cook delicious and healthy meals.
Workshops on how to stay physically and mentally healthy.

Next to the Museum building we will make a small botanical and lavender garden for everyone to enjoy and a learning footpath with viewing and chill-out spots.

Some of the workshops will be complimentary and some paid for by the participants. The money from the paid-for activities will contribute to the strengthening and development of our Museum.
The dates of the workshops will be announced each spring.
The entrance to Lavender Life Museum will be free of charge.

In times past people would meet together at haymaking, harvest, potato digging or at feather-tearing parties. They would work together, eat together, joke together and rest together. If anyone had any kind of misfortune others would help. Being together was what built a strong local community. Now our lives, customs and communities are different, but not always better. We decided to create the Museum to make an experimental community reviving this lost conviviality. We are offering a light version of an experience of living in an "old style" community. You can spend time talking, working, joking, resting with others and with a surrounding scent of lavender. You can spend as much or as little time as you want and need in order to feel the atmosphere of the past which we will try to recreate.

Today we all live in a rush; every day is full of errands, often the same errands that we did yesterday, today and will do tomorrow. We don't know the remedy for modern life, but we want to offer you a moment of conscious, warm presence and a different surroundings to the one you experience in your everyday life.
