- **Event Description**: Paul Loether has become known in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and the metro Baltimore/DC area as a Pete Seeger-style folksinger, songwriter, and “songfinder." From 1998-2007, he performed as a founding member of the CT-based duo (later trio) Bookends; from 2009-2018, he was a lead vocalist, stand-up bass player, guitarist, and banjoist for the popular Metro DC-area band, Silver Strings MD.  Paul’s expressive vocals and fingerpicking cover of a wide array of traditional and contemporary folk artists—from Stephen Foster, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton, to Bill Staines, Nanci Griffith, John McCutcheon, Carrie Newcomer, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. His usually topical originals feature clever, well-crafted, and often humorous lyrics. 

With over 50 years of playing, “Bluesman Extraordinaire” John Charland draws from the deep well of Delta blues rag and traditional roots music. Featuring hugely powerful vocals backed up by stunning guitar work, his acoustic style reflects a lifelong devotion to the raw, rhythmic sound of early American music shaped by decades of performing and listening. 

$10/pp. Free parking is readily available along adjacent Lyme Street. Refreshments will be available. Seating is limited; advance ticket purchase via the link below is strongly recommended. All proceeds from this performance will benefit the community music programs of Old Lyme's nonprofit MusicNow Foundation.
