Each juried show in Five Acts looks at the world through a different lens: This Land Is Your Land, Animal Kingdom, Stillness: A Still Life, Abstracted, and Faces & Figures. This Land Is Your Land celebrates the ever-changing landscapes that surround us. Artists’ pieces express humanity’s connection to place, and explore how land shapes identity, memory, and belonging. The animal world has long inspired creativity, symbolism, and storytelling. In Animal Kingdom, artists explore people’s relationship with animals as companions, muses, and metaphors by creating artwork that captures the beauty, spirit, and complexity of the animals that share our world. The still life tradition has endured for centuries, offering artists a way to find meaning in the quiet arrangement and beauty of everyday objects. In Stillness: A Still Life, artists reimagine this timeless genre through classical interpretation, contemporary experimentation, or symbolic storytelling.Abstraction opens a space for artists to move beyond representation by exploring form, color, line, and gesture as expressions in themselves. From pure non-objectivity to works that balance between the recognizable and the abstract, artworks in Abstracted push boundaries, distill ideas, and experiment with visual language while celebrating the power of art to evoke emotion, energy, and imagination. In Faces & Figures, artists explore portraiture and figurative work in all its forms from realistic depictions to expressive interpretations. This exhibition examines how artists, through emotion, gesture, and presence, capture humanity, identity, and the stories written on the body and face.Five Acts is on view February 27 – April 10, 2025.
