(Tenor/Baritone) Mrs. Paroo: Marian’s mother. Warm, protective, and holds the family together. Requires a solid Irish brogue. (Mezzo/Alto) Mayor Shinn: The blustery, serious mayor. A high-stakes comic role that requires excellent monologue memorization. (Non-singing) Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn: The Mayor’s wife and leader of the "Pick-a-Little" ladies. Needs a sharp comedic actress who plays it straight. (Alto/Mezzo) Winthrop Paroo: Marian’s shy younger brother. Needs a believable lisp and a big personality shift during the show. (Boy Soprano/Unchanged Voice) Charlie Cowell: An angry traveling salesman out to expose Harold. A loud, strong acting role. (Non-singing) SCHOOL BOARD/QUARTET Jacey Squires: High harmony. (High Tenor) Ewart Dunlop: Second highest harmony. (Tenor) Oliver Hix: Second lowest harmony. (Baritone) Olin Britt: Lowest harmony. (Bass) PICK A LITTLE LADIES AND FRIENDS Ethel Toffelmier: Marcellus’s girlfriend and the "boss's niece." A fun, bubbly comic role. (Mezzo/Alto) Alma Hix, Maud Dunlop, Mrs. Squires: The core gossips of River City. Need strong voices and sharp comic timing.
