What’s Special About This Concert:
Louise Farrenc was the only woman to hold a permanent faculty position at the Paris Conservatory in the 19th century—her Overture No. 2 is a bold, dramatic work that showcases her overlooked brilliance as a symphonic composer.
One of our own—an Oklahoma Chamber Symphony musician—steps into the spotlight as soloist, performing a concerto chosen through our annual competition.
Schubert’s “Tragic” Symphony offers stormy drama and lyrical beauty from a composer just 19 years old when he wrote it—bridging the Classical and Romantic styles.
