- **Event Description**: Sunday, November 9th at The Blue Door we will be fundraising to help fund some of my son, Odysseus', medical bills from his 6-month hospital stay from August 2024- February 2025.

The talented Carter Sampson, Ali Harter, Janice Francis-Smith, Caleb McGee, Buffalo Fitz, and heartfelt side project of local rockers (Dion Warlocke) Driftwood Wanderers will be gathering at the most venerable and best listening room, The Blue Door.

Odysseus went into the hospital in August with COVID, strep throat, an unknown diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes, and a frequently fatal fungal sinus infection. 

At only 10 years old he fought for his life with me by his side advocating for his amazing doctors and nurses to do everything to stop the infections progress. He seemed to be alright despite the very unpleasant side effects of conventional antifungal medications. However, the infection jumped to his brain lining. We doubled down on transport to a separate hospital to undertake hyperbaric therapy to halt the infection with conventional meds and got him compassionate use of a yet unapproved experimental medication.
All the while he remained in online school, loved lots of service animal visitors, and built tons of Legos trying to live every moment, even in the hospital,to his fullest.

He pulled through! On October 3rd (2025) he finished his experimental medication and was announced officially cured! 

Join us November 9th to celebrate & fundraise to pay down more of his hospital bill. There will a small silent auction of some items available as well.
