The Portrait Photographer’s Guide to Commercial Photography

Commercial photography comes with its own set of rules, techniques, and pricing strategies—many of which differ greatly from what portrait and wedding photographers are used to. In this practical and eye-opening presentation, Cris J. Duncan will share how photographers can confidently step into the commercial space with clarity and purpose.

With years of real-world experience photographing everything from tabletop products and food to architecture and editorial ad work, Cris brings deep knowledge and actionable insight to help photographers grow their skillset and income.

About the Speaker:

Cris J. Duncan is a nationally recognized photographer and educator with a heart for helping others grow. As the current President of Texas School, one of the largest educational gatherings for photographers in the country, Cris is known for blending technical mastery with business-savvy teaching. Alongside his wife Deanna, he owns and operates CjDuncan Photography in Lubbock, Texas, where they specialize in both portrait and commercial work.

In his presentation, Cris will walk us through lighting techniques, design theory, pricing models, and delivery systems tailored for commercial clients. He’ll also share the key questions to ask prospective clients—so you’re not just prepared to shoot, but also to price and deliver with confidence.
