About the event

Ice Harvest Children's Program
The Ogdensburg History Museum is pleased to announce its upcoming Second Saturday Children’s Program, taking place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

This month’s program will explore the fascinating history of Ice Harvesting. Before modern refrigeration, the St. Lawrence River served as a vital source of ice for the community. Children will learn how massive blocks of ice were cut from the frozen river, stored in sawdust, and used to keep food cold throughout the year.

The session will be presented by Julie Madlin, Ogdensburg City Historian.

Cost: Free and open to the public

The program is designed to be educational and accessible for families. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.
