Our Horse show:
The SandHills Quarter Horse Show, taking place May 10-11, 2025, will be dedicated to Patricia "Patty" Whittenburg Elrod, whose enduring legacy will be celebrated during this action-packed weekend. Held over Mother’s Day weekend, the show will feature exciting classes—from trail to halter—with cash and prizes, along with a variety of special events to honor and recognize mothers.
Patty Elrod, who passed away in 1999, was deeply involved in the equestrian community and made lasting contributions as an educator, 4-H leader, and rancher. She found great joy in raising, training, and showing Quarter Horses, including her cherished horse, "Moonbeam." Patty’s love for horses and her community was matched only by her dedication to family and church, and her influence continues to inspire those who knew her. This event will celebrate her lasting impact and contributions to the equestrian world, her community, and her church.
The SandHills Quarter Horse Show will offer a variety of awards—including fun prizes like adult riding scooters—and will feature special events throughout the weekend to celebrate mothers. It promises to be a festive and memorable occasion for all attendees, with something for everyone, from seasoned competitors to first-time exhibitors. The event will also mark the return of the show to Odessa, its original home, where the community spirit and love for horses first brought this event to life.

Dates: May 10-11, 2025 (Mother’s Day Weekend)
Prizes: Over $7,500 in cash and prizes
Judges: 4 AQHA judges, 2 NSBA judges
Entry Fees: $300 (Flat Fee), $150 (Youth)
Special Events: Mother’s Day recognition and celebration
