We plan to meet at 0830 at the Post to car pool to our assigned South Bethany Beach area (S 2nd and Ocean Dr). Parking fees will still be in effect, and we will have limited parking passes for your to use during the hours of the cleanup.

If you can please wear something to identify with the VFW or at least the military. Dress comfortably and appropriate for the weather, and bring water.  It is preferred that you bring your own gloves.  We also recommend bringing a 5-gallon bucket to collect trash so we can reduce the amount of trash bags we send to the landfill.  After you empty the buckets on-site, you may take them back home with you.

The Coastal Cleanup will go on, rain or shine unless lightning or severe storm conditions exist.  If cancelled, the cleanup will be rescheduled to September 20, 2025 from 9 AM to Noon.
All youth under the age of 18 must have parental consent to participate in the event.

Leaders of groups have the responsibility to obtain and keep on hand parental consent forms for youth under the age of 18. You will not need to submit these forms at the event.  Youth volunteers 15 years of age and under must also be accompanied by a responsible adult.   Groups are responsible to ensure proper supervision of the youth members of your group.

As you pick up trash at your designated site, keep in mind things like bottle caps, plastic sand buckets, plastic straws and coffee cup lids are not recyclable and must never be placed in your curbside recycling carts. Unfortunately, almost every plastic item you will collect on the beach must be placed in the trash. Items that are normally recyclable may be too degraded and/or too contaminated to be recycled. (Tires will be excepted for recycling for this clean up.)  If you want to recycle glass bottles and metal cans you find during your cleanup efforts, feel free to bring your own container to collect them in and recycle them at home.   Don’t forget, bring your own gloves and a bucket to help reduce waste!
