The Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum invites families and ocean enthusiasts to celebrate Coral Reef Awareness Week with a special event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This interactive day of ocean-inspired fun will feature educational programming, hands-on crafts, and a special guest author appearance.
One highlight of the event is a book signing and reading of A Fish Named Fancy with author Ellwyn Autumn, taking place in the Museum Store from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Following the museum’s Aquarium Program, the author will read from her book in the Boat Room.
A Fish Named Fancy tells the story of Fancy, a unique fish who loves swimming and blowing bubbles—but with his own creative flair. When the other fish insist that he conform and only make round bubbles, Fancy sets off to find a place where he can be himself. Along the way, he meets two other outcasts—Ruby the oyster and Glimmer the squid—and together they search for a place to belong. This heartwarming tale celebrates individuality, friendship, and the courage to be yourself.
In addition to the book program, visitors can take part in a Creature Feature and Take-Home Craft at 12:00 p.m. Attendees will experience native aquatic wildlife, watch a live feeding, and learn about marine habitats before creating an ocean-themed craft to take home. This program is included in the price of museum admission.
