- **Event Description**: Get fired up to participate in the Raku firing process with ceramicist David Newquist! Normally, it takes days if not weeks to have a finished piece of pottery, but our Raku workshop will have you with a finished piece in one night! With the Raku technique participants take ready-made bisqueware (pottery that has already been fired once) and glaze it. These pieces are fired in a kiln and then removed while still hot and placed in a burnable material. Participants leave with a unique and one of a kind glazed ceramic piece to take home the same day. 

PLEASE WEAR natural fiber clothing consisting of long sleeves, long pants and close-toed shoes, with long hair tied back. This event will take place outside in the center of the Workhouse campus, so dress up for the weather. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled. 

Event will be located on the Central Quad.

For ages 5 years and up. While adult participation is encouraged, adult supervision is required for any youth under 16 years of age. For every three children, one adult must be present. Please note that participants will be able to take their ceramics home the day of the workshop but will need to wait until the items have had time to cool.

$20-40 to participate depending on piece fired. No registration is required; participation is first come, first served.

Firing will take place during the first half of the event. New pieces will not be added to the kiln after 8PM or earlier if demand is high at the start.
