Weather is usually great this time of year, and the famous Silver Springs with Glass bottom boat tours and roaming monkeys is right next door to where we are, so why not spend the weekend and have a mini vacation?
Or, just make the most of one day and come ORIENTEERING!
Go out solo, or with friends or family, and feel the energy of several busloads of JROTC student athletes competing!
We are staging in a pavilion near the Silver River Museum & Environmental Center. WE ARE NOT IN THE MAIN SPRING ENTRANCE, but near the CAMPING.

SCHEDULE:
9am to 1 pm: Registration at the venue
9:30am - 1:00pm: Participants/teams start.
Time limit of 3 hours, but all must be back before 3:00 pm when the courses close.
COURSES OFFERED - Course distances to be announced.
WHITE- for first timers and kids. Course is all on trails with control points prominently presented.
YELLOW - for beginners. Course is mostly on trails with control points a short distance into the woods. There may be opportunities for those who feel able to take short cuts through the woods.
ORANGE - intermediate difficulty. Mix of on- trail and off-trail, generally relying on the more obvious mapped features.
GREEN - advanced course off trail and reliant on the subtler features of the terrain.
BLUE - the longest advanced course.
COSTS:
Course fee: $12 for FLO members; $15 for non-members
E-stick timer rental is $3/team for those who don’t own one.
Compass: bring your own or rent one for $2/ each.
Venue fee - TBD- sometimes parks have us collect their fee, sometimes they collect it at the entrance.
GETTING THERE:
We are NOT at the park entrance by the spring head, but closer to the campgrounds.
Our club uses an app, called What 3 Words, that gives a PRECISE location of where we are staging. Download it and put in this location: ///conventional.hiked.alligators
Apple/Google Maps: search for “Silver River Museum & Environmental Education Center” then look for our Orange and White signs to direct you to the south part of the parking lot.
