- **Event Description**: Veteran Suicide Prevention Training for Veteran Service ProfessionalsAbout this EventIn October 2025, The Fire Watch contracted with the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA) to provide enhanced Veteran suicide prevention training to all Veteran Claims Examiners (VCEs) and County Veteran Service Officers (CVSOs) across the state. Entitled the Florida Veteran Overwatch Program, The Fire Watch and its partners - Florida LEADS Zero Suicide Project, PsychArmor Institute, and the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic - will hold in-person training sessions at 6 locations across Florida in 2026. Participants will learn to recognize suicidal behavior, deescalate crisis situations, and direct at-risk Veterans to care and support.Every VCE and CVSO is asked to attend one of the sessions listed below. Except for a session to be held concurrent with the County Veterans Service Officers Association (CVSOA) of Florida conference in May, each is scheduled for a Friday, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. The training is free. Breakfast, lunch, and training materials are provided. Travel and other costs will be the responsibility of your State or County office.
