Learn our version of the super popular, ultra fun and fabulous Witch's Dance first made famous in Germany by the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut.
Over the course of 6 weeks, we'll dance together and laugh, you'll make new friends and have a time once a week for *you* to connect with a group of really fabulous people as well as a weekly commitment to move your body in a low-pressure, fun environment. These are actual fitness based dance classes where you will get a workout while learning a fun choreo too.
While this dance has some bellydance elements, you will not need to have experience to dance with us. Each movement will be broken down, drilled, and set to different music to help you learn how to dance while you learn this fun choreography!
All ages, levels, abilities, shapes, sizes, backgrounds welcome! We will finish our journey in October by having a fun and funky flash mob at a location and time to be determined. You'll get to dress up in your witchy or wizardy best too, perfect for Halloween! We usually have other opportunities to perform throughout the month too with dates and times TBA.
Posted below is a link to the original dance that is inspiring us. While we will use elements from this to honor the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut dancers who originally danced it, this choreo was adapted to include Global Caravan movements by Master Teacher Misha Cain Nell.
This class is open to all levels of dancers who'd like to learn this super cute dance and boogie down!
6 Weeks Class series:
Sundays at 7:15 pm, August 10, 24, September 8, 15, 22,28. No class August 17 or August 31.
$90 for the 6 weeks includes virtual classes, extra practice videos, costuming tutorials, handouts...and more!
---> We will have a dress rehearsal Sunday September 28 during class, with an additional dress rehearsal TBD. Dancers in this class will have the option to perform provided they are able to meet performance requirements.

Why Witches? This is a *super* fun dance choreography and one where you can really get creative with your costuming and character. It's a great way to celebrate the seasons, since we adults don't always get to have fun and cut loose and dress up. This is a prefect "excuse" to bring a little bit of the fall magic into your life, bring movement into your weekly routine, and enjoy the connections that form through the magic of the dance. In no way do you need to be a witch to do this dance; the "magic" of it is just being willing to dance and have fun!
Also just a gentle reminder that witches have been feared throughout history, but often they were the healers and wise women (and men!) of a community. While this word carries a lot of wounds and trauma, and can definitely be scary for some, in our dance we can use it to remember and to celebrate the wisdom of women and their ability to learn to heal and bring connections to nature and the rhythms of the world to others.
