Then arrives Hero, a dandy aesthete, who longs to cut the bridge and escape the mud pit. But he must convince the leader, Frankie Fre, and the other fatuous inhabitants that there is a better life outside the swamp.

OTP returns to the category-defying work of Taylor Mac with THE FRE, directed by Mylo Cardona. Part mud-riot, part rave, this queer, all-ages play is staged inside a literal ball pit, exploring freedom across class and tribal lines — and reminding us that connection, play, and solidarity may be the only way out.
