She’s recorded with the likes of John Lee Hooker, Charles Brown, Taj Mahal and Elvin Bishop. On saxophones and vocals, Kristen Strom has recorded a series of albums displaying her ravishing tenor tone and gift for writing tunes that combine harmonic sophistication and burnished lyricism.Drummer Sylvia Cuenca rounds out the combo, bringing three decades of New York seasoning to the stage. Employed by jazz legends like Joe Henderson, Clark Terry and Michael Brecker, she’s concentrated on leading her own bands in recent years (but still answers the call from revered veterans).
