Darning is a way of repairing any hole or thin area of fabric by building up the strength of the underlying cloth. By stitching thread in layers, darning can add both structure and decoration and works great for knitwear like socks and sweaters, but also for denim jeans and even canvas shoes! In this class students will learn the benefits of different styles of darns, as well as where and how to use them.For this class, students should have some comfort with the basics of sewing.Students should bring one clean sock with them to learn darning a heel. It’s fine if the sock is in perfect shape! This is just learning.
