Welcome to the 4th annual Black Futures Ball:
Space is the Place — Visionary Dreamwork
Inspired by the legendary Afrofuturist film Space is the Place—filmed right here in Oakland—our 2025 theme is about much more than outer space.
It’s about creating and holding space.
In a world that often feels confining, and unjust, we dare to imagine differently.
We reclaim the power to create space where we’ve been denied it.
We take up space boldly, joyfully, and unapologetically.
We hold space for one another to heal, grow, and dream beyond the limits imposed on us.
This is the heart of Visionary Dreamwork.
Join us at Chabot Space and Science Center for an unforgettable night of transformation—beginning with a VIP cocktail hour and award ceremony (hosted by Grammy-winner and EOYDC alum RyanNicole) honoring our scholarship recipients and Champions for Youth, and expanding into a museum-wide experience of art, exhibits, food & drink, photo opps, DJs, dancing, and more.
This isn’t just an event—it’s a gathering of dreamers, visionaries, and future-makers. Together, we create space for a reality where Black joy, brilliance, and creativity shape what comes next.
All proceeds benefit EOYDC’s Pathway to College and Careers (PTC2) program, which helps Oakland youth access college, earn scholarships, and navigate the journey to adulthood with support and purpose. Our 2025 goal is to raise $250,000—with $150,000 going directly to students.

BACKGROUND INFO:
EOYDC's Black Futures Ball is a yearly fundraiser supporting our Pathway to College and Careers (PTC2) program. PTC2 helps students matriculate into, fund, and successfully graduate from college or credentialed vocational training programs.
This year our goal is to raise $250,000 (or more!) to support our PTC2 programming: $150,000 of which will go directly to our students via scholarships.
Since 2015, we've distributed more than $850,000 to nearly 300 students. Last year alone, we handed out over $150,000 in scholarships. You can help us match that this year!
PTC2 works. On average, 90% of high school seniors participating in our program graduated high school on time with 70% enrolling in college or a vocational training program within 3 months of high school graduation. To learn more PTC2 and our other programs, visit our website.
Can't attend? You can still make a donation to support our youth!
