Sashiko utilizes a running stitch to create beautiful patterns while also mending everyday clothing, blankets, quilts and so much more. Students will be able to work with traditional tools and sashiko supplies to hand mend their ripped, torn or distressed garments and textiles while learning specialized techniques to create a truly individual piece of sustainable fiber art.All materials are provided for this course; students only need to bring a piece of medium-weight, non-stretch cotton or linen clothing they wish to repair or embroider. Suggested fibers are denim and heavier cotton, such as jeans or overshirts with holes around 1 to 4 inches in width. (Or you may uses fabric pieces from the Depot.)
