This presentation will discuss the various types of feeding tubes placed in dogs and cats. We will cover how to choose the best tube based on the patient, as well as cover the indications and contraindications of commonly placed tubes. This presentation will also cover the nutritional aspect of feeding tubes. This includes how to calculate out individual's nutritional needs, choosing the right diet for the tube, and troubleshooting complications with the various tube types. Upon completion of this lecture, the audience should know to know the difference between commonly placed feeding tubes, which tubes are best indicated based on the patient's presentation, and how to choose the proper diet for use with the tube that has been placed.
