Starting from the Geta Bush area at the local primary school. We head towards the local guides station but branch to the right towards the electric fence as we immediately start our steep ascent, 4km through the close growing stinging nettle. A brief walk (1km) with the view of the Rurimeria trail side and still through the unbothered vegetation we get to a rocky viewpoint, Kanyundo. We go off trail, climb it and enjoy the views Kanyundo has to offer. We continue with the 5km trek with brief ascent, through the unexplored moorland towards the Kiharatini summit, with the constant reminder of being in the wild by coming across mountain antelopes. After summiting the Kiharatini peak, we go down through the treacherous moorland and head towards the Rurimeria peak. The trek (5km) has a few brief ascents as we join the Rurimeria trail through the famous Mountain Gate. We summit the Rurimeria peak and begin our descent. The trek unfolds into a breathtaking panorama as we traverse the moorland towards the peak, offering captivating views of Mt. Kipipiri and the iconic Table Mountain of the Aberdares. As we ascend, the Le Satima valley beckons, and although the trek through water bogs can be challenging, the rewarding vantage rocks along the way will capture your imagination. This expedition is not for the faint-hearted, as the trek takes approximately 9-10 hours. Physical and psychological preparation is essential for those who dare to test their endurance, discover newfound strength, and push their limits. Trip Itinerary: 4:30 am: Depart from Nairobi for Rurimeria, expected to arrive and commence the hike at 7:30 am. 12:30 pm:Enjoy your packed lunch or snacks at the peak while taking in the scenic surroundings. 7:00 pm: Leave Rurimeria for Nairobi, expecting to arrive at 10:00 pm.
