- **Event Description**: We take an escape into the forest to enjoy birds chirping, waterfall thundering,  tree hugging and whistling over our heads as we walk the beautiful forest.  We start at Mucharage Forest Rangers Post towards Mathioya where we end the along the expansive Nyayo Tea Zone. 
Later we exit the tea zone and into the Forest crossing Gikira as we walk through the clear opening.
Up the only major ascent on this trail;  at the top is this ever magical pool with beautiful reflection of the blue sky and the forest. We take our first break here as we take in all the beauty.
We then follow animal tracks through the dense forest dotted with wild berries as we begin our waterfall chase. With the waterfall partly in sight, we have our energies reignited as we walk the bamboo trail leading to the base of magnificent Gatanga Falls.
We have our moment at the misty falls as we enjoy our lunch on the shores of its pool.
Later we cross over the river by the pool and following the fortress at the base of the waterfall and re-entering the bamboo forest back to our starting point at the Rangers Post.
 
The journey is estimated 16km long and will take approximately  6-7hrs.

Trip Itinerary
Time Activity
5.00am	 Depart Nairobi for Othaya expected to arrive 8.30am
9.00am     Start the trek in the beautiful forest . 
1.30pm   Enjoy your packed lunch or snacks at the waterfall as you view the scenic surroundings
5.30 pm	Leave Othaya for Nairobi expecting to arrive at 8.30pm

What to wear and items to carry;
Waterproof hiking boot
Wear hiking/gym pants (avoid jeans)
Polyester T-shirt (like the football jerseys) carry an extra one to change after the hike
Head torch
Sunglasses
Hat/cap
Camera
Binoculars
Drinking water (3litres)
Sunscreen (Arimis oK)
Heavy snack or picnic Lunch
Energy Bars
Poncho or a light Rain Jacket
Avoid unnecessary Items
Finally carry loads of fun with you and tag along with a friend!!

Adults- Citizen Kes. 3,850 per person, Residents Kes. 4,250 and Non-Residents USD 65

Book your space by sending a non-refundable booking fee of KES. 1,500/- via Lipa na Mpesa Paybill no. 5211729 Account GATANGO by 25th November 2025 and the balance by 28th November 2025.

Cancellation Policy
•If you cancel more than 48 hours before your scheduled trip departure,  50% of the fee will be charged.
•If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled trip departure, no refund fees will be provided.
•No shows are responsible for 100% of trip fees.
