JANUARY MEMBERS MEETING
Welcome in the New Year, with us!
Come along and learn about growing Dahlias and what you need to be doing right now in your patch, to have beautiful blooms to enjoy all the way through until Autumn.
Bring along your blooms to share with other keen dahlia growers and take part in our “Mid Week Champion” competition. I great way to get a taste of showing and a lot of fun and a great way to also pick which blooms you may like to grow in the future. Our hall is open from 6.30pm if you would like to come earlier to stage your blooms.
Our growing update this growing season continues and is being presented by member and experienced Micro flower farmer, Bec Scoble from Floral and Stem! We look forward to Becs presentation to learn about what Bec is doing on her farm right now to nurture and grow the dahlias on a large scale, this season!
If you are interested in showing your dahlias at our Dahlia Show, we will be exploring the Show Schedule and how to "Stage" your dahlias so they look their best on show day!
Our special guest speaker is Dr Paul Horne from Integrated Pest Management Technologies. Dr Horne will be presenting “Friend or Foe” - information about pests and sharing with us valuable information to keep our dahlia beds pest free. Dr Paul Horne is an entomologist who, since 1996, has run his own company, IPM Technologies P/L, that specializes in Integrated pest management. His company combines biological (insects that eat insect pests), cultural (management techniques to affect or reduce pest numbers) and chemical (insecticides). He talks about selecting products that will K*ll the pest and not disrupt beneficial insects.
All this plus more.... all welcome. We suggest to arrive earlier if you are wanting to show your blooms or just catch up with friends before the meeting.
Most of all have an enjoyable evening with a great group of people, sharing ideas and learning about Dahlias, in a relaxed atmosphere.

Our meetings are held on the third Thursday evening of every month (September to May) at the Mt Waverley Community Centre.
Our Monthly members meetings are now live streamed so if you can’t make it to Mt Waverley, you can watch via ZOOM. Please note that the zoom link is sent to members just prior to the meeting.
