- **Event Description**: The University has expressed an interest in developing water related research at Nottingham. We would therefore like to invite you to a Water Research Conference on the 30th January, from 1 – 5pm. The purpose of the water research conference is to bring together academics from all Faculties to generate ideas and work collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects that address the global water challenges we face today, enabling us to be proactive in applying for future funding calls with short deadlines that we know will soon be available in this space. The University will also fund follow on workshops, with stakeholder involvement to further develop several projects sufficient to secure future funding. We would also like to build on some initial capture of water capabilities, which will feed into stakeholder requests and the developing critical mass to set up a Water Research Centre (and/or an RPA) at Nottingham in 2019.
During the conference, there will be an opportunity to:1. Network with colleagues from across the institution re. water related research2. Share opportunities and intelligence3. Discuss research priorities and challenges4. Capture our water capabilities5. Generate ideas and work collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects that address the global water challenges – selected project ideas will then be further developed during follow-on workshops
