Leaning all the way into the bad taste accusations of melodrama (what else would you expect from the Pope of Trash?), John Waters casts his eternal muse Divine as Baltimore housewife Francine Fishpaw, born with an unusually keen sense of smell and cursed with a pornographer husband and two delinquent children. Vintage heart-throb Tab Hunter plays – with gusto – the hunk that sweeps Francine off her feet in a brilliantly meta piece of casting.
