Beyond Helping: Empowering Survivors of Modern Slavery


Join Survivor Alliance UK CIC on Anti-Slavery Day for a half-day workshop on how to move beyond transactional service provision and to empower survivors of slavery.

This workshop will provide some 'nuts and bolts' for working with survivors of slavery and human trafficking from an empowerment approach. We will, also, discuss the difference between survivor voice and survivor leadership. Participants will have a chance to learn more about the work of Survivor Alliance in the UK and abroad, and take home a new report: UK Survivor Network Successes and Challenges

Presenters include survivor leaders from the UK Survivor Network, and Survivor Alliance Director, Minh Dang. Alex Norris, MP from Nottingham City Council will provide closing remarks. 

Ticket Costs: - Cost includes light breakfast, coffee and tea, lunch and individual copies of our reports and presentation materials.- Remaining proceeds will go to support the work of Survivor Alliance UK CIC, including local survivor-led chapters. - Discounts: If you would like to bring two or more people from the same organization, a discount can be arranged. Transportation: - If you are driving, you can park at Forest Park and Ride, and take the tram towards Clifton South OR Toton Lane one stop. Get off at High School Tram Stop and walk. 

- If you are taking a train into Nottingham Station, get the tram to Phoenix Park OR Hucknall and get off at High School tram stop.
