Damp Matches are making their long awaited debut at Space Studios with support from the formidable Suckle.
With a unique mash-up of alt-rock, trash-hop and anthemic indie, Damp Matches’ sound would be as at home at a stadium concert as it is in a grimy small town mosh-pit. Think the moodysnarl of Queens of the Stone Age poured over the scratchy stylings of Bloc Party and early Arctic Monkeys, fronted by Hayley Williams if she was trained from birth by Jeff Buckley andThom Yorke. Big, punchy riffs and thunderous drum lines set the backdrop for front-womanHelena Lewis’ soaring vocals, complimented on occasion by the grimy growls of bassistWill Calvert. Having built a reputation for putting on raucous and high-energy shows,they are definitely ones to watch on the UK rock circuit.
