Contra Dance with Cojiro and Ben Sachs-Hamilton calling

Join us for a traditional New England contra dance at Tracy Hall in Norwich with calling from Ben Sachs-Hamilton, and music by Cojiro.

All dances are taught, and beginners and singles are always welcome. We offer pot-luck snacks at the break, so please feel free to bring something to share. Our caller will offer a introductory / refresher session at 7:15 pm for newcomers or those who want to review the basics. Please bring clean non-marking shoes to help protect our dance floor!

Ben Sachs-Hamilton started contra dancing at 12 and started teaching dances at 15. Since then he has called and organized for dances across the northeast, with a focus on LGBTQ and gender-role-free dance communities. He fosters a welcoming and inclusive space for diverse groups of new and experienced dancers, adding tips on style and safety into his teaching. Ben currently lives in Western Massachusetts.

Cojiro (Co-jee-ro) is a Boston-based duo (Jess Newman & Mark Price) creating modern folk music for contra dance: Stompy, fun, and funky. Here's a video of them in Montpelier last fall.
