- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 13 Nov, 2025 at 10:30 am – Thu, 13 Nov, 2025 at 04:00 pm
- **Event Description**: After several meetings of the Community of Practice, we're keen to share insights and co-develop a plan for the future of the Community.About this EventAbout the event:The Coastal Resilience Community of Practice was formed as a space for individuals, organisations, policy makers, managers, community members and activists to share insights, build collaborations, and learn about (and from) each other. It is open to anyone with an interest in coastal resilience.Initially formed as part of the ARISE Initiative, we have run one in-person day event and several online meetings. We developed a (free to download) book to share initial insights, and a range of themes that have emerged from these discussions. We're eager to learn more. We're interested in co-developing a strategy that helps put the Community of Practice on a sustainable, long-term footing. At our next event we want to identify objectives for the group that meet the needs of the community, are accessible, and provide meaningful opportunities to better understand real-world problems in the resilience of our coasts. If this sounds like something you would like to be part of - perhaps you have already come to some events, or it may be your first time hearing about it - we would like to welcome you at the University of East Anglia on the 13th November. All perspectives, experiences, and expertise are welcome and equally valued. For those who are not attending through their work, we may be able to contribute to the costs of attending this event. Please email Scott at s.leatham@uea.ac.uk.If you would like to experience an event where:People feel welcome, relaxed and connected with others through common interests and passions. The group's objectives can be explored without dominant agendas. You're back in a space that is fun, engaged and inclusive.People want to meet again out of enthusiasm rather than obligation. There's the option of a guided tour of the Sainsbury CentreThen please join us:For a day of activities (10:30 -16:00 including optional closing event) on 13th November 2025, in person only, at the University of East Anglia, hosted as part of the ARISE research project.Closer to the time, we will share campus and arrival information. https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events9/banners/76382f40-b747-11f0-9b73-5188c4a9b9bd-rimg-w1200-h730-dcc2d180-gmir.jpg Agenda?: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AMRegistration and welcome?: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PMARISE Project Updates & Plans?: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PMLunch?: 01:00 PM - 03:00 PMIdentifying objectives for the Community of Practice?: 03:00 PM - 03:10 PMClosing?: 03:20 PM - 04:00 PM(Optional) Tour of the Sainsbury Centre

"description": "ARISE is a ground-breaking research project, funded by UKRI, which seeks to develop resilience within the UK’s coastal communities and seas. Over the course of five years, the project team will work with local stakeholders and communities to design and test different ‘interventions’, or ways of tackling difficult and long-standing problems. At the end of the project, we will have a powerful and practical toolkit to help communities and decision makers develop place-based resilience-building interventions across the UK coastline. The project team is led by Professor Gina Yannitell Reinhardt, Department of Government, University of Essex, and comprises investigators from across Eastern Arc Universities and beyond (Aberystwyth, Birkbeck, East Anglia, Essex, Kent, Manchester, and Suffolk) and other regional partner organisations including the Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science and Estuary Festival. If you would like to hear more about the ARISE project or our team expertise and/or explore opportunities for collaboration, please do not hesitate to contact the ARISE project lead, Professor Reinhardt (gina.reinhardt@essex.ac.uk)."
