Ash trees are an ecologically and culturally important tree species here in Maine, and they are threatened by the invasive emerald ash borer, a beetle that kills ash trees. This program will begin with an indoor session covering the importance of ash seed preservation, seed biology, and best practices for ensuring long term viability and ways in which you can contribute to citizen science. We’ll then head outdoors to explore the tools and techniques needed for proper seed collecting.
This event will offer hope and tangible steps YOU can take for the future of this species and our forests!
F𝐞𝐞: Admission is FREE and light refreshments will be provided!
