About Lauren


Lauren Frihauf is a Colorado-born singer-songwriter whose soulful voice and fearless artistry have captivated audiences nationwide. Raised on a rural farm but shaped by an eclectic urban influence, Lauren blends neo-soul, folk, and indie singer-songwriter elements into a sound she proudly calls “Neo-Folk.”


History


Lauren first gained national attention when she was featured in NPR Music’s 2022 Tiny Desk Contest “Top Shelf,” earning praise from Senior Producer Bobby Carter, who said, “Every time I watch this video, it just wrecks me.” She also showcased her vocal talent on Season 19 of NBC’s The Voice, where she performed on Teams Gwen and Legend and advanced to the Knockout Rounds.


After her neo-soul duo project came to an unexpected pause before releasing The Latona EP, Lauren found herself stepping into a new season of independence and self-discovery. Shifting from keys to guitar, she found creative freedom in open D tuning after learning Joni Mitchell’s “Cactus Tree.” Influenced deeply by Nai Palm of Hiatus Kaiyote, Lauren began shaping a sound that feels both unconventional and deeply accessible.


Her songwriting explores identity, growth, and the emotional complexities of adulthood with honesty and depth. With over a growing national fan base and critical acclaim from outlets like KUVO Jazz 89.3FM, Lauren continues to carve her own path in the modern folk and neo-soul landscape.

Live at The Historic Heaton Building


Lauren Frihauf will perform at the Historic Heaton Building for the second show of our 2026 Winter Listening Room Series.


Join us for an intimate evening of powerful vocals and authentic storytelling in the lower level (basement) on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The show begins at 7:00 PM.


Tickets are $25 per person.

Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Refreshments provided by the Norton County Arts Council.
